POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position will be responsible for the design of a variety of building electrical systems and subsystems including power distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls, telecommunication, fiber optics, generators, UPS, security systems, CCTV, fire alarm and other specialized communication systems. An ideal candidate will also have experience with the design of security (Access Control and CCTV), voice/data structured wiring, outside plant, audio/visual, fire alarm and communication systems.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE from an accredited engineering program.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience designing commercial / industrial electrical systems.
  • Licensed professional electrical engineer in at least one state preferred.
  • Ability to self-manage throughout the project and work as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working on a construction site and working with foremen and installation crews.
  • Familiarity with NFPA70/NEC Code and BiCSI Telecommunication Design Standards.
  • Proven communication, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skill
Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical system design and/or consulting from its inception to completion.
  • Perform necessary engineering functions required for the project (field investigation, load calculations, equipment selection, system diagrams, sequence of operation and control diagrams, layouts, and specifications), while coordinating with designers, drafters, and engineers.
  • Review drawings for proper practices, quality, and consistency with office design standards.
  • Develop detailed construction drawings including site/floor plans, block diagrams, details, schedules and wiring diagrams.
  • Develop detailed specifications based on the CSI format.
  • Experience with the National Electrical Code
  • Working knowledge of electrical construction industry.
  • Provide construction administration services including pre-bid and construction meetings, reviewing shop drawings, resolving construction and owner issues, performing progress and punch list inspections.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Revit experience desired.
  • Project management experience on MEP projects desired.
