ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Join the Power Laboratory at UBC, led by Prof. Martin Ordonez, a world-renowned expert in sustainable energy systems. This research program focuses on advancing next-generation power conversion, including renewable energy integration, energy storage, and sustainable infrastructure.
We are seeking a highly motivated electrical engineer to pursue a Master of Applied Science (MASc) or PhD degree at UBC, contributing to cutting-edge projects in collaboration with a high-tech industry partner. The research focuses on designing, controlling, and optimizing renewable energy and energy storage systems, advancing electrification infrastructure, prototyping and validating hardware, and integrating interdisciplinary components for efficient energy management.

ELIGIBILITY AND DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor/ Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Industrial working experience is preferable: hands-on experience with embedded systems programming, hardware prototyping, and/or PCB design.
  • Strong foundation in electrical and electronic circuit design, software/ firmware programming, and/ or renewable energy technologies.
  • Excellent academic record and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research-intensive environment.
