Electrical Engineer Location: Glastonbury, CT Employment Type: Full-Time, In-person Timing: Immediate Position Summary: This position entails the electrical project support of multi-million-dollar power generation facilities or other types of industrial projects. The candidate will be required to: provide electrical power and control engineering support for the Procurement, Project Development, Construction, and Commissioning teams; help ensure electrical engineering deliverables are completed, on-time, and on-budget while maximizing production efficiencies and output through electrical design, specifications development, equipment installations, troubleshooting, and work to minimize construction commissioning cycle; and ensure that the electrical design is safe, reliable, and meets Codes and Standards. The Electrical Engineer will also work closely with the project team in proposal development and participate in customer meetings and presentations.   Position Description:  The Electrical Engineer will assist in the oversight of the Engineer of Record's (EOR) project multi-disciplinary team to complete the Electrical and Controls Engineering design packages, perform calculations, and develop engineering solutions. In this role, you will typically work on power generation, distribution, utility-scale Power Plant Systems design for new and retrofit installations, and other industrial projects. Project knowledge range includes understanding complex EPC contracts and technical oversight of electrical contractors. The Electrical Engineer will also be responsible for supporting the management of electrical and control systems for power plants, designing power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCC) with wiring schematics, developing construction specifications, and writing & reviewing equipment specifications.  Responsibilities * Provide engineering support in the development of preliminary designs and technical proposals. * Evaluate base designs and specifications, providing technical support to engineering inquiries through all phases in process improvement as per Owner requirements. * Coordinate project schedules and engineering teams to execute work at site in a timely manner. * Drive technical due diligence from project development, implementations, and commissioning phases. * Review engineered specifications and drawings. * Ensure installation and operations are in adherence to Gemma standards and customer requirements. Desired Qualifications/Experience: * 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering. * 5+ years of related experience. * Experience with solar or renewable projects is beneficial. * Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred. * Strong experience in preparing project schedules, technical review of specs and designs, technical and financial analysis or project utilities, and risk analysis. * Proficient in at least one of the widely used control system platforms, including current and legacy Rockwell systems, Siemens and Schneider, is a plus.  * Working knowledge of system and equipment grounding requirements (high resistance, building, and isolated grounding). * Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, IEEE, & OSHA). * Understanding of generation and power factor correction. * Experience with eTAP or SKM for performing short-circuit, coordination, and flash hazard studies. * Familiarity with AutoCAD or Smart Plant Electrical.
