  • Design electrical systems for oil and gas processing facilities, including material selection, equipment specification, and exposure to various electrical equipment types (e.g., MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, switchgear).
  • Execute engineering scope for assigned project elements, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets while monitoring progress.
  • Develop material specifications, data sheets, and material lists, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement and installation.
  • Review and verify vendor information for technical accuracy, ensuring designs meet project specifications.
  • Assemble and review contract documents for the field construction phase of projects.
  • Evaluate proposals and contracts related to field construction and ensure proper coordination of electrical designs during construction.
  • Provide technical support during construction, liaising with field electrical contractors and construction management to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure alignment of project goals and timelines.
  • Supervise and mentor less senior electrical engineers and drafting personnel, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and quality management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the proper use and care of equipment and materials under your responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 4-8 years of formal training and experience in electrical engineering design or EPCM projects, particularly within the oil and gas or related industry.
  • Project management experience is a plus but not required.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC or AB (licensing in both provinces is an asset).

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing design, scheduling, and technical requirements.
  • Strong engineering skills with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, standards, and industry practices (e.g., CEC).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with peers, project managers, site managers, and clients.
  • Capability to work in a team of engineers and designers, offering technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • Knowledge of project design processes, including DBMs, project plans, and scheduling, with a focus on electrical design.
