    KGS Group is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our well-established office in Mississauga, ON.

ABOUT YOU

To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant bringing forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experience. Some highlights could include:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university; a post graduate degree would be an asset.
  • Preferred 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering
  • Registered (or eligible to become registered) with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO). Registration in other Canadian provinces would be an asset.
  • Previous consulting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in site investigations, condition assessments, design and construction support is preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of power distribution systems up to MV level.
  • Knowledge of hydro stations is an asset.
  • Previous experience with power systems studies is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Codes and relevant electrical standards
  • Experience working on multi-discipline projects is preferred.
  • Travel to project sites is usually limited but is required depending on project/client requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks.

Responsibilities

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing modifications to, or entirely new, electrical systems related to hydroelectric and heavy industrial projects.
  • Supporting the execution of multiple projects from the proposal stage through to completion. Projects will include a variety of small to large projects involving hydroelectric power generation, transmission and distribution systems.
  • Low voltage, medium voltage and high voltage electrical system design including power distribution, substation design, protection and control systems and motor control center.
  • Design single line diagrams and three line diagrams
  • Knowledge of equipment schematic diagrams and terminal wiring diagrams
  • Generating station grounding system design based on IEEE80.
  • Power system analysis, short circuit, load flow, arc flash, motor starting and dynamic studies using ETAP or PSCAD.
  • Construction support services including reviewing shop drawings, liaise between contractors and owner, construction inspection/substantial completion.
  • Specification and report preparation and detailed review.
  • Engineering drawing preparation and review.
  • Performing a variety of electrical studies and review.
  • Working collaboratively with other disciplines to execute project deliverables, as well as ensuring that quality objectives, schedules and budgets are met.
  • Pursuing new business opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • Managing and mentoring junior staff.
