MEGI Engineering Inc. is a full-service engineering design and consulting firm located in Portland, OR serving the pulp and paper, industrial, power and utility, and chemical markets. We strive to provide a Collaboration of Excellence, both within the company and with our clients. As a senior electrical engineer, the successful candidate must be competent in performing, leading, and directing all conventional aspects of Electrical Engineering and application of judgment for the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard design criteria, methods, and procedures. Supervisory responsibility may include providing technical guidance and coordination for staff assigned to one or more projects, mentoring and developing staff, interviewing and recruiting potential new hires.

QUALIFICATIONS / QUALITIES

  • 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering
  • BS or MS in an engineering discipline from ABET-accredited program
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • PE registration
  • NCEES registration preferred
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards, including National Electrical Code
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific tables, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Proficient with MS office
  • Self-motivated and self-managed to learn about technology and improve processes
  • Valid US Driver’s License.
  • Must pass drug test, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy
  • May be required to pass a background check prior to employment
    Typical duties will be performed in an office environment with occasional field trips to operating facilities or construction sites. This requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, computer data entry, normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting 25 pounds may be required.
    Salary and benefits negotiable based on level of experience and the agreed upon responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with project team members and with clients
  • Client interactions to review technical information and designs
  • Participate in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
  • Preparation of calculations, sketches, schedules, and specifications for projects
  • Develop bidders list, gather initial inquiries, and develop purchase requisitions for approval
  • Site field trips to existing plants to gather operating data and equipment information
  • Develop total installed cost estimates for projects
  • Participate in plant start-ups and fields assignments as required
  • May use software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, ReCap, EasyPower, and Microsoft Office to preform engineering tasks and develop deliverables
  • Must be able to order and expedite project materials and components associated with AutoCAD drawing packages
  • Must possess exceptional organizational skills with emphasis on meeting customer deadlines
  • Must work well with group, possess good communication and be comfortable working in a fast-paced diverse environment
