Responsibilities

SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

We are looking to appoint an electrical engineer to our Frankfurt team. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary division that is trusted to deliver some of the industry’s most challenging and time critical engineering projects.
Our need to recruit comes from the success of delivering for our clients in the Data Centre sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

  • Management of Electrical Site Safety and QA in conjunction with the project team and the Mercury Safety Advisor. Ensure Works are installed in accordance with Project specifications and to the Project QA plan (for e.g. pre-agreed benchmarking).
  • Management of Project Schedule in conjunction with Mercury Project team, consulting Engineer and Client requirements Information reporting will be an essential activity to ensure activity targets/deadlines are met to support the project team.
  • Management of all costs associated with your packages and ensure that the assigned procurement person has a full buy-out schedule in place for your discipline, and that all materials and equipment are being purchased and delivered to site on schedule.
  • Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings
  • Management of all day-to-day Electrical contractors under your management including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Ensure that there is a weekly minute meeting with sub-contractor.
  • Issue internal weekly progress report, to the Project Manager, highlighting areas not available, and delays, shortage of design, third party hold ups and percentage complete.
  • Ensure change management for packages is handled correctly as required (Cost & Programme).
  • Identify VE opportunities and challenge the consultants to implement where applicable.
  • Ensure Works are installed in accordance with Project specifications and to the Project QA plan (e.g. benchmarks, inspections and hold points according to quality plan).
  • Management of Site Safety in conjunction with the electrical Project manager, the Mercury Safety Advisor and the project team.
  • To support the engineering requirements through managing & liaising with Key Project Stakeholders (Client design team, Main contractor, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, etc).
  • Review of drawings and specifications and Familiarisation of Design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the Project works. Overseeing the Co-ordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel ensuring spec compliance and as per schedule priority. This will require generation/management of Requests for Information (RFI) and management of technical submittals during Electrical design development.
  • Technical responsibility for Quality associated with design deliverables
  • To manage the quality needs for your packages on site, providing guidance to ensure we are compliant to all relevant standards/codes and specifications associated. This will include all site activities associated with validation and handover to the client.
  • Assisting the Installation Package team to manage the quality needs for the project on site, providing guidance to ensure we are compliant to all relevant standards/codes and specifications associated. This will include all site activities associated with validation and handover to the client. Manage the Construction Work Packs process from development, implementation and handover. This will involve activities onsite to support our construction management team.
  • Schedule material deliveries to correspond with the project schedule. Track deliveries. Management of the material procurement utilising Engineering Materials Report (EMR) by producing material take offs identifying the lead in periods and field need rates.
  • Manage BIM priorities i.e. support team to develop modular concepts, Typical fabrication details and Isometrics generation and to release for construction. Validation of materials/assets within the model are also to be verified for construction. Change management is a critical process to be understood and controlled.
  • Report where required to the Project Manager and Commercial Manager on schedule and cost implications of Engineering designs and changes.
  • Ensure Mercury Policies and procedures are followed closely.
  • Ensure COHE controls are implemented in line with company procedures and to liaise with various vendors and subcontractors in relation to LOTO of their equipment where applicable.
  • To understand the nature of working in a live environment and appreciate the importance of maintaining all clients’ system during construction phases.
  • Liaise with the client regarding the permitting of all works within the live environment and participate in the development of RAMS and relevant client permits.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR THE ROLE:

  • Minimum BEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related subject
  • Experience working in a design consultancy preferable- experience of working within a contractor environment is desirable.
  • High level of technical skill in Electrical Building Services is essential.
  • Capable of accurate work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Able to see wider picture outside own discipline in projects is essential.
  • Financial awareness useful but ability to develop this skill is required.
  • Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language.
  • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential.
