Description Electrical Engineer About Us: MCG specializes in designing and building custom electrical switchgear and controls for a variety of applications. We engineer, build, and deploy specialized switchgear and control systems for the power generation industry. We are agile, fast-paced, and our goal is to provide our customers with clever, cost-effective products and solutions. Position Summary The Electrical Engineer serves as the project lead, responsible for designing, developing, testing, and commissioning electrical systems and enclosures for the power generation industry. This role includes preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs), PLC and HMI software, and project documentation, while collaborating closely with project managers, customers, vendors, and internal engineering teams. The Electrical Engineer provides guidance and work instructions to Electrical Designers for creating schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line and three-line diagrams, and assembling complete submittal packages. The Electrical Engineer is involved throughout all phases of project development, ensuring all deliverables comply with industry standards, customer specifications, and project timelines. The ideal candidate ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to technical requirements, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Roles and Responsibilities: · Design, develop, test, and commission electrical enclosures for the power generation industry, including Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Generator Docking Stations, Low and Medium-Voltage Switchgear, Switchboards, Control Panels, and other custom electrical enclosures. · Collaborate with Project Managers, Customers, and Vendors to ensure project scope, specifications, timelines, and budgets are met. · Using computer-aided design software, develop submittal, construction and as-built drawings, including AC and DC schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and component layouts. · Develop project documentation, including manuals, sequence of operation (SOO) and test plans. · Create Bill of Materials (BOMs), including selecting/configuring part numbers for electrical components such as circuit breakers, protective relays, PLC controllers, all-in-one controllers, current and voltage transformers, etc. · Collaborate with in-house Mechanical Engineers and Designers on the design and development of electrical sheet metal enclosures, including switchgear, switchboards, control panels, etc. This includes evaluating the design and layout of busbar, component layout, etc. · Work with and support Electrical Designers and Drafters on creating drawings such as schematics, wire diagrams, and shop-launch packets for construction. · Design and develop software for PLC and HMIs for projects. · Design products that encompass MCG’s complex electrical designs and comply with internal design standards, as well as UL standards such as: UL891, UL1008, and UL1558. · Assess customer specifications and shipping requirements and ensure requirements are met. · Receive and process engineer change orders. · Provide support for shop as construction is ongoing. Qualifications: Required · Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, EET or related field or equivalent industry experience · 2+ years experience in related field · Willingness to travel to customer job sites, up to 15% Preferred · Experience designing electrical panels, switchgear, or industrial control systems. · Familiarity with NEC, UL 508A, and other applicable standards. · Experience preparing submittal packages for engineering or construction projects.
