DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will play a key role in design and project management within MPE’s Electrical Team.
This position requires an Intermediate Engineer (or Professional Technologist of Engineering) with 5‑10 years of experience in Commercial, Industrial and/or Municipal electrical & controls.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A diploma or degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Commercial, Industrial and/or Municipal electrical & controls.
  • Professional membership with APEGA (P.Eng.) or ASET (P.Tech.(Eng.).
  • Good verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in the following:
  • AutoCAD and Revit Drafting
  • Electrical System Building Design including but not limited to:
  • Power Distribution and Emergency Backup (up to 750V)
  • Electrical System Modelling (SKM)
  • Lighting
  • Fire Alarm
  • Security, Door Access and Controls
  • Communications and Networking
  • Automation and Control
  • Commercial and/or Industrial electrical consulting experience.
  • Valid driver’s license (job duties may include some travel and site work).
    The ideal candidate would also have a good understanding of electrical design, installation, and code requirements of electrical systems in buildings. Having the ability to lead and coordinate medium to large‑sized projects would be an asset.
    Accountabilities include being part of a team of engineers and technologists during the execution of detailed design, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities, and providing technical input and direction according to project requirements. Other responsibilities include directing and supporting junior staff, undertaking site visits to validate adherence to the specifications and design, and providing mentorship.

Responsibilities
  • Providing project engineering support and technical assistance on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects supporting our Building Services Sector.
  • Preparing cost estimates, technical calculations and reports, meeting minutes, specifications, equipment selection and contract documents.
  • Managing project’s (staff, design, and construction).
  • Liaising with team members, regulatory agencies, utility companies and contractors.
  • Mentoring junior staff.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge and understanding of safety policies and procedures.
