POSITION

We are looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineer-in-Training (2+ years experience) registered with EGBC, with a minimum Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Electronics (or equivalent).

In this position, the candidate will require the following soft skills and aptitudes:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with clients and represent the company in a professional manner
  • Able to communicate, organize and manage a small project team to deliver a variety of projects
  • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering projects
  • Report writing
  • Willingness to learn new skills and expand knowledge horizons
  • Problem solving mentality

The following technical skillsets and experience are essential:

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD for the generation of 2D electrical system design
  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks to generate machining, fabrication, assembly, and site layout drawings
  • Experience in the design of skid packaged process equipment, pressure vessels and piping

The successful candidate shall be:

  • Registered with EGBC as a Professional Engineer, or
  • Registered Engineer-in-Training with EGBC with 2+ years of experience, eligible for professional registration within a couple years of hiring, and,
  • Willing to travel periodically to support projects with field reviews and other tasks remote from the home office.
Responsibilities

Electrical design tasks for industrial facilities. Assignments will be varied and can include such items as specification preparation, calculations, single line diagram preparation, vendor technical management, etc. Knowledge of power generation or industrial facility low and medium voltage distribution is a plus. Position will require an ability to make independent decisions on engineering problems and methods, define options, and articulate the best solution(s) to the team. In addition, the individual will need to coordinate their work with other engineers and/or technicians on a project basis. Candidate will be required to apply the Canadian Electrical Code and other applicable standards as part of their work on a continuous basis. The successful candidate will be supervised by a qualified Professional Engineer with an emphasis on career and skill development. While this is an office-based position, some travel may be required.
