Electrical Engineer (Hybrid)   Job Description: OTJ is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who is PE certified.  This role focuses on the planning, design, and execution of electrical systems for a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, experience, and a collaborative mindset suited for multidisciplinary AEC environments. Responsibilities: * Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for electrical design projects, including sealing and signing construction documents * Design and document electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, mixed-use, and/or government facilities * Develop power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, emergency power, and critical systems designs * Produce and review drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical narratives * Coordinate closely with architects, structural, civil, and MEP engineering teams throughout design development and construction * Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy and firm standards are met * Support construction administration services, including shop drawing and submittal reviews, RFI responses, site visits, field observations, and closeout documentation * Interface with AHJs and utility providers across MD, VA, and DC for permitting and design approvals * Mentor junior engineers and designers; provide technical oversight and guidance * Support project management activities such as scope development, scheduling, and fee estimates * Contribute to proposals, interviews, and business development efforts as needed Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET-accredited) * 5–10 years of experience in electrical engineering within an AEC consulting environment * Active PE license in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC * Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IECC, ASHRAE, and local jurisdictional codes * Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical calculation tools * Experience coordinating within BIM and multidisciplinary design teams * Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills About OTJ: OTJ is a premier architecture and design firm with offices in Washington, D.C., New York City, Miami, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas, and Chicago.
