Description

KEY SKILLS:

  • Ability to prepare, review, and authenticate construction deliverables such as Layout drawings, Equipment lists, Load lists, Single Line Diagrams, I/O schematics (120V and 24V), JB details, Cable schedules, Grounding design, Motor and VFD schematics and EHT isometrics.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and controls.
  • Prepare and review load calculations, voltage drop calculations, cable tray design, equipment sizing, EHT calculations, etc.
  • Produce project deliverables that are technically accurate and within budget and schedule.
  • Perform engineering support for procurement activities, including MRQ/MRP development, technical bid evaluation, and vendor drawings approvals for electrical equipment such as switchgears, MCC, motors, VFDs, UPS, EHT panels and e-houses.
  • Knowledge in protection and control system design and specification for MV and HV designs.
  • Experience in ETAP and SKM will be an asset.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the project team and other discipline groups.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate electrical designers.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects independently.
  • Experience assisting project engineering leads and managers.
  • Knowledge of all Federal/Provincial safety policies and procedures.
  • Understanding and application of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific skills, codes, and standard practices.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to self-check and produce accurate designs.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years of Electrical design/engineering experience within an EPCM environment; oil and gas experience preferred.
  • Certification with APEGA, EGBC, ASET, or other engineering and technology association.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
