POSITION SUMMARY

Provides electrical expertise in the design and implementation of electronic systems within a production floor environment. Focus on R&D, design, testing, engineering and transfer in production of electronic components, products, and systems by performing the following duties.

MINDSET, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Energetic, eager, tenacious!
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Preferred professional engineer OIQ license
  • High degree of electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of basic electrical systems, engineering, and manufacturing practices.
  • PCB Design, Orcad (or equivalent), Analysis LTSpice or equivalent
  • Essential Programming languages: Embedded C, Python. Software: MCU Toolchain, Git, FreeRTOS.
  • Backend developpment (Python, NodeJs), Frontend (Vue, Angular, React)., AWS or cloud equivalent is an asset
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and maintains circuit board schematics and PCB layouts using design software.
  • Develops various software and firmware to control the circuit boards and communicate with the products.
  • Assemble and installs prototype units in R&D, conducts approval tests, and creates summary reports.
  • Creates software validation reports.
  • Be a resource for all plant personnel with regards to the testing, validation, and design of electronic components/products.
  • Develops and designs test control apparatus, equipment, and components for use in house as well as at contract manufacturers.
  • Creates procedural instructions for testing products in a production environment.
  • Creates custom PLC programs for production and R&D streams.
  • Works with technical writer to review accuracy of product manuals. (User manuals, service manuals, etc.)
  • Provides specifications to purchasing, particulars include manufacturer P/N’s, electrical spec. values, circuit board Gerber files, approved substitutes, etc.
  • Works with technical support department to eliminate issues in the field and implement changes to better production processes.
  • Analyses ECR (Engineering Change Requests) and performs ECO (Engineering Change Orders) as required.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.
