  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited university
  • At least 3 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer in the Petrochemical or electrical utility industry
  • Electrical run and maintain (preventative maintenance)
  • Knowledge of how a Refinery and Chemical facility operates
  • eTAP or similar electrical system modeling
  • Electrical Standards knowledge: NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA 1910, API
Responsibilities

Shell is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Engineer team in Geismar.
The Electrical Engineer is primarily responsible for providing electrical technical support for turnarounds, electrical outages, electrical innovation, and quality/technical assurance and run and maintain support for assigned units. It also supports the site electrical engineering team to ensure safe and reliable operations, acts as the first level technical resource to electrical inspectors and specialists to assist in the resolution of problems and development of solutions and coordinates support with other technical groups, local capital projects group, and Operations.
This role shall be proactive in creating and maintaining an appropriate level of communication with Shell Chemical - Geismar Site organizations to ensure proper support is provided for turnarounds, electrical outages, and supported capital projects. The position may support multiple units, offer opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines, and implement new electrical technologies.
In addition, it is responsible for the Electrical Engineering Team’s Power Management System, including maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and alignment with the PMS Specialist. The Electrical Engineer may also be required to fulfil the requirements for SGP/SATP, depending on their level of experience

Responsibilities:

  • Provide electrical technical support to assigned unit(s) in collaboration with unit electrical inspector / specialist to resolve electrical problems and develop solutions
  • Perform Proactive Technical Monitoring, trending and eTAP studies for assigned unit(s)
  • Assist in developing, integrating, planning, executing, and driving short- and long-term electrical strategies and tactics
  • Support MOC (Manage of Change) process for unit(s) assigned
  • Assist in reviewing electrical switching procedures to ensure quality and accurate details
  • Perform periodic assessments and QA on site electrical vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers
  • Maintain site electrical power management system, which includes monthly electrical billing, troubleshooting issues as they arise and collaborating with Team’s Digital Specialist
