POSITION SUMMARY:

Spark Power is a leading independent power solutions provider to the electrical service industry across North America. We deliver technical solutions that help our customers transition to the grid of the future – Renewable Energy. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in power distribution to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will report to the Engineering Manager and be instrumental in delivering engineering solutions for construction projects across industrial, commercial, renewable, and utility sectors.

What you’ll doing as a Electrical Engineer?

  • Serve as the direct point of contact for customer support, facilitating communication and project planning.
  • Provide direct customer support with proactive communication, organizing kickoff meetings, and handling RFPs/RFIs.
  • Collaborate as a project team member on industrial, data center, commercial, battery energy storage system, and utility-scale ground-mount solar projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates, conduct site visits, and perform detailed engineering reviews and calculations, including cable/equipment sizing, transformers, switchgear, grounding transformers, NGRs, ground grid design, and cable ampacity reports.
  • Develop comprehensive design drawings/packages, such as single line diagrams (SLDs), site layouts, and LV/HV details.
  • Support procurement, construction, and commissioning efforts, ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Identify technical challenges, propose effective solutions, and seek assistance as needed for complex issues.
  • Mentor and assist junior personnel within the Engineering team to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Take on specific project scopes as a team member or lead complete projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a P.Eng. designation.
  • At least 5 years of power distribution design experience.
  • Proven track record in Renewable, Industrial, and Commercial projects.
  • Expertise in power distribution design, substation design, and project management.
  • Proficiency in electrical software (e.g., CYMCAP, CYMGrd, SKM, ETAP) and CAD software (AutoCAD).
  • Experience in heavy industrial or Battery Energy Storage facilities is an asset.
