Your Opportunity Stantec GS seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead projects & play an integral part in our growing Built Infrastructure practice group. The ideal candidate is a technically strong, self-driven engineer who can support and lead portions of multiple design projects, coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams, and contribute high-quality technical solutions across a wide range of building and industrial systems. You will work with as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Lead Engineer. You will lead in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain electrical power, lighting, fire alarm and other low voltage systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit and AutoCAD design, calculations, and field work. Key Responsibilities Creates electrical design documentation for the electrical discipline by being proficient in relevant software programs such as Revit / AutoCAD and providing direction to junior staff via markups or other method to convey design intent and expectations. Key position on project teams involved in assignments primarily for large, high-profile Department of Defense program initiatives Coordinates with other building disciplines (architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent (either working directly with these other disciplines or by providing guidance / review of junior staff performing this coordination). Consults with clients to determine project plans and schedules Serve as technical advisor on assigned projects and issues of moderate complexity involving electrical engineering, efficiency, operations, and/or planning. Maintains positive client relationships Prepares designs, studies and reports Directly supervise employees and at times subcontractors involved in the project Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws Evaluate, select, and apply advanced design & engineering methods with responsibility for project assignments including programming, design development, and coordination and production of construction documents Develop and prepare construction documents, plans (e.g. one-line diagrams, panel schedules, etc), and details; and specifications; review and redline drawing sets Evaluate and integrate engineering systems and implement code, accessibility, and zoning analyses. Performs field work (or reviews field work performed by others) to review existing facility conditions for use in development of site-specific electrical design documents and to review work being performed by contractors. Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating exercises. Ability to design, develop, optimize, and perform life cycle cost analysis of renewable energy electrical systems that support clean‑energy generation, storage, and distribution.
