This role requires proficiency in industry standard software and tools, as well as the ability to conduct root cause analysis and debugging for complex electrical issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in renewable energy projects, with a strong engineering background in Solar PV, Battery Storage, EV, or Electrical Installations.
  • Level 4 or higher qualification in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • Hands-on site experience as an electrical fitter/installer is required.
  • Proven experience working on both residential and commercial solar PV and battery projects is essential.
  • Familiarity with BS7671 and the IET Code of Practice for Grid Connected PV Systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, system design, and generation technologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data, assess risks, and perform yield analysis.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PV Sol, and SolarEdge.
  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Trimble ProDesign (advantageous but not essential).
  • Experience leading junior engineers with demonstrable team management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for residential and commercial Solar PV and battery installations, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring schematics, and equipment layouts.
  • Use design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks to produce accurate electrical drawings and layouts.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess cable routes, verify design compatibility, and recommend necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Calculate electrical loads, cable sizing, voltage drops, and perform inverter selection to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical analysis for solar and battery projects.
  • Ensure all designs comply with BS7671, IET Codes of Practice, and health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, installation teams, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and integration of electrical systems with mechanical components.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and work with manufacturers to specify electrical components, inverters, switchboards, and protective equipment.
  • Assist with permitting processes, including DNO applications and local authority planning requirements.
