Description

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its team in Richmond Hill. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for commercial, educational, and institutional/municipal buildings, with an emphasis on equipment renewal and replacement projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, proficiency with design tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD software, MS Office Suite, and simulation tools
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety codes, standards, and best practices
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with lighting retrofits, controls, and distribution calculations
  • Knowledge of power upgrades and distribution equipment
  • Familiarity with fire alarm systems, PA systems, data/communications, and emergency power systems
  • Experience with contract administration activities and protocols

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems, components, and wiring diagrams for new and existing buildings
  • Create and review technical drawings and schematics using CAD tools
  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure integrated design solutions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices
  • Prepare design documentation, including technical specifications, wiring diagrams, power and lighting layouts
  • Participate in design reviews, contract administration, site inspections, and commissioning activities
  • Provide technical input and support throughout project execution
