QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical/PLC Technology.
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in industrial automation (PLC/HMI).
  • Strong experience in Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron platforms.
  • Strong skills in panel building and wiring, including understanding of UL standards and best practices.
  • Proficient in interpreting schematics, panel layouts, and control wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, VFDs, and machine safety systems.
  • Able to troubleshoot and program HMIs and data collection systems.
  • Programming in VB, C, or Java is an asset.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to U.S. sites.
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Electrical Engineer or Technologist, you’ll work closely with our Project Coordinator and shop team to develop, troubleshoot, and commission automation systems and control panels used in our filtration products.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Development & Commissioning

  • Program, test, and commission PLC and HMI systems (Allen-Bradley, Omron, Siemens, etc.).
  • Design and modify ladder logic, function block, structured text, and industrial networks.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics and panel drawings.
  • Assist in R&D and SR&ED innovation activities.
  • Support the design and build of UL control panels in compliance with CSA/ESA/OHSA standards.
  • Travel to client sites (including the U.S.) for commissioning and support.

Support & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot machine, PLC, and HMI issues in-house and at customer sites.
  • Optimize equipment cycle times and improve throughput based on customer feedback.
  • Provide support via phone, email, and onsite visits.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain version-controlled programming backups and detailed documentation.
  • Create operating manuals and startup procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to lock-out/tag-out and all safety procedures.
  • Contribute to testing protocols and ensure shop acceptance of built systems.
