Your Company:

An established and industry-leading food manufacturing organisation has partnered with the team at NET Recruit to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Engineering team.

The organisation operates within a fast-paced manufacturing environment where engineering reliability, product quality, health and safety and continuous improvement are central to its operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically skilled engineer to take responsibility for maintaining and improving plant, production equipment and site services, while contributing to the ongoing efficiency and reliability of the operation.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

While in this position your duties may include but may not be limited to:

  • Carrying out day-to-day electrical maintenance, fault-finding and improvement activities across plant, production equipment, machinery and site services.
  • Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise disruption to production.
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across a range of production machinery and electrical systems.
  • Carrying out electrical inspections, testing and fault diagnosis to support the safe and reliable operation of equipment.
  • Identifying recurring electrical faults and implementing effective long-term solutions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Supporting the installation, modification and improvement of electrical systems and production equipment where required.
  • Working with control systems, sensors, motors, drives and other electrical components associated with manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensuring all electrical and engineering work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant food manufacturing, quality and health and safety standards.
  • Using engineering systems and processes effectively, including computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Working closely with Operations, Logistics, Technical, Hygiene, Health & Safety and Facilities teams to support the smooth running of the site.
  • Liaising with external contractors and suppliers where required.
  • Taking an active role in daily shift meetings, communicating engineering issues, sharing best practice and ensuring effective handovers between teams.
  • Maintaining accurate engineering records, shift paperwork and maintenance documentation.
  • Supporting effective stock and budget control within the Engineering function.
  • Contributing to maintaining and improving product quality and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  • Championing health and safety within the engineering environment and helping to maintain a safe workplace for all employees.
  • Responding effectively to engineering requests and prioritising maintenance activities according to operational requirements.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve equipment performance, efficiency and reliability.

What You Will Need to Apply:

  • Previous experience working in an electrical engineering or maintenance position within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualification, GNVQ or equivalent.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding experience and practical electrical knowledge.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing industrial plant, production machinery and associated electrical equipment.
  • Experience with electrical control systems, motors, sensors, drives or similar manufacturing equipment would be advantageous.
  • Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
  • A strong analytical and problem-solving approach, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective long-term solutions.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively across different levels of an organisation.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being confident working with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure, prioritise competing maintenance requirements and respond effectively to changing operational demands.
  • Good IT skills, with experience using engineering systems or CMMS platforms.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety, quality and maintaining high engineering standards.

What You Will Get in Return:

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established food manufacturing organisation in a key engineering position, where you will have a direct impact on the reliability, efficiency and safety of plant and production equipment.

You will have the opportunity to work across a varied manufacturing environment, combining reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement. The position offers excellent scope for an electrically skilled engineer to utilise their existing expertise while continuing to develop their wider engineering capabilities.

The position offers a salary of up to £53,000 and operates on a 12-hour shift pattern, providing an excellent opportunity to become an important part of an established Engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
