JOB SUMMARY Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM   An Electrical Engineerig Intern is responsible working with the team to learn about designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components to meet project specifications and industry standards. They work on various projects ranging from power generation and distribution to electronics and telecommunications, applying their expertise in electrical theory, engineering principles, and practical design techniques.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Utilize specialized software tools such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent for conducting arc flash hazard assessments and studies. · Develop and maintain electrical system models within these software platforms to accurately simulate system behavior and calculate arc flash incident energy levels. · Customize software settings and parameters to reflect specific system configurations, equipment characteristics, and operating conditions. · Verify and validate simulation results through comparison with field measurements, testing data, and theoretical calculations. · Troubleshoot software issues, perform software updates, and stay informed about new features and capabilities to enhance study accuracy and efficiency. · Provide training and support to team members and clients on the use of arc flash study software, including data input, model creation, simulation execution, and result interpretation. · Collaborate with software vendors and developers to provide feedback, suggest improvements, and contribute to the advancement of arc flash study tools and methodologies. · Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements, data security protocols, and intellectual property rights when using proprietary software solutions. · Design electrical systems, circuits, and components using CAD software, adhering to project requirements, codes, and standards. · Provide occasional assistance to the Field Services division as needed for electrical testing support. · Troubleshoot and debug electrical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions as needed. · Prepare technical documentation, reports, and specifications detailing design requirements, test results, and project milestones. · Maintain accurate records of design changes, revisions, and project progress to support documentation and compliance efforts. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to integrate electrical systems into multidisciplinary projects. · Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to gather requirements, address concerns, and provide technical support. QUALIFICATIONS · In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, theories, and practices, with a focus on power systems, electronics, or telecommunications. · Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools for electrical design and analysis. · Familiarity with industry standards and codes, such as NEC, IEEE, and IEC, governing electrical design, safety, and compliance. · Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and propose effective solutions. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED · Utilize specialized software tools such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent for conducting arc flash hazard assessments and studies. · Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, OrCAD). · Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice) for electrical analysis and modeling. · Understanding of electrical control systems, power distribution, and protection devices. · Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in electrical engineering, such as renewable energy systems, IoT, and automation. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Electrical Engineering   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification may be required or preferred, depending on the jurisdiction and employer requirements. Certifications in specialized software or technologies relevant to electrical engineering (e.g., MATLAB, AutoCAD Electrical) may be advantageous.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
