POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of electrical systems on specialty vehicles and structures for Defence, Public Security and Commercial applications. This role demands a strong understanding of electrical principles, vehicle systems, and relevant automotive standards, with a focus on ensuring high performance, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or higher qualification is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in electrical or a closely related field, with a proven track record in design and development.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of electrical circuit design, embedded systems, control systems, communication protocols (e.g., CAN) and sensor technologies.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with electrical circuit design tools (e.g. AutoCAD), simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink), and embedded software development tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues effectively.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work both independently and effectively in team.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with automotive and/or military vehicle standards and protocols
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical design and environmental testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they apply to vehicle electronics.
  • Experience with project management and leadership in a technical environment.
Responsibilities
  • System Design: Develop detailed specifications and designs for electrical systems used in vehicles. This includes high and low voltage systems, communication interfaces, and sensor integration, electrical schematics and harness design.
  • System Integration: Integrate and test electrical components and systems into various vehicle platforms, ensuring interoperability with existing systems and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform comprehensive testing and validation of vehicle electrical systems, including functional, environmental, and stress testing, to ensure systems meet relevant standards and performance criteria.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to vehicle electrical and electronics systems. Develop and implement corrective actions and improvements as needed.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain thorough documentation of design processes, integration procedures, test results, and system configurations. Create technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs and systems adhere to relevant automotive and/or military standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Maintain awareness of changes in standards and regulations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team, and other project team members to ensure seamless integration of electrical and electronic systems with vehicle hardware and software.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Research and implement emerging technologies and innovative solutions to enhance system capabilities, performance, and reliability. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical domain.
