The Role We are looking for a talented student to join the R&D team as a 6-month electrical engineering co-op student. The position is 15-30 hours a week, starting in May 2026. You will be part of a fun, intelligent, and passionate team at Viken Detection. Considering the modest size of our relatively young company, you will have direct access to the leadership team, including the CEO, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Engineer Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Head of Operations, Sales Leaders, etc. We genuinely view the co-op experience as one where talented and curious students should get a holistic view of the company even if their role is situated in the R&D Department. Responsibilities Plan, conceptualize, and create electrical designs for new products. Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs. Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration. Perform engineering calculations to support design work. Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors. Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process. Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget. Requirements Major in electrical engineering or in a related field. Firm grasp of engineering concepts. Experience using ORCAD or similar software. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly. Willingness to learn & work hard and have fun as part of a the Viken team.
