QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical systems design specifically in substations, project leadership, and team management.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of New York.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
  • Experience designing traction power substations and rail signaling systems
  • Strong understanding of MTA, NJ Transit, PATH, and Amtrak requirements.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in coordinating with utility providers.
  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams and build consensus.
  • Experience in business development strategy and proposal preparation.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable electrical design.
  • Experience with Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) and railroad substation upgrades.
  • Experience designing ITS and traffic signal systems
  • Experience designing Roadway and tunnel lighting design

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $190,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Director to lead our electrical engineering practice across transportation and infrastructure projects. This strategic leadership role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and a passion for innovation and sustainability. You will oversee complex electrical design projects, guide departmental standards, mentor engineering teams, and drive business development initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and high/low-voltage systems for transit infrastructure and building projects.
  • Oversee preparation of electrical engineering reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Conduct site assessments, field inspections, and system evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, mechanical engineers, and contractors to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level electrical engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.
  • Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable design principles into electrical systems.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Lead business development efforts including client engagement, opportunity identification, and relationship management.
  • Oversee the preparation of proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and presentations for prospective projects.
  • Develop and implement department standards, guidelines, and best practices for electrical engineering processes.
