Description Duration: May 25 – August 7 (Full-Time) Location: In Office Overview Synapse ITS is looking for an Electrical Engineering Summer Intern to support the development of our industry-leading traffic and pedestrian safety products. This is a hands-on opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to products that help the visually impaired safely navigate the world. You’ll gain exposure to real engineering work across the full product lifecycle, from design through validation, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. What You’ll Do You’ll support the engineering team with both new product development and improvements to existing designs. Assist with testing, debugging, and validation of electronic designs Support schematic updates, PCB layout reviews, and documentation Help run basic circuit testing using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) Participate in design verification and validation activities Assist with design reviews and documentation updates Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and product teams Support troubleshooting efforts and help identify root causes of issues Contribute to ongoing product improvements and engineering projects What You’ll Gain This internship is designed to give you real exposure to electrical engineering in a product-based environment. Hands-on experience with electronic design, testing, and validation Exposure to PCB design tools and real-world engineering workflows Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and product teams Mentorship from experienced engineers Opportunity to contribute to products in active development and production Requirements Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field Exposure to circuit design, electronics, or embedded systems through coursework or projects Familiarity with schematic capture or PCB layout tools (Altium or similar is a plus) Basic understanding of digital and analog circuits Exposure to microcontrollers or communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.) is a plus Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Clear communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently while contributing to a team Organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn
Responsibilities
The intern will support the engineering team with new product development, electronic design testing, and validation activities. They will also collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to troubleshoot issues and update documentation.
