Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Electrical Engineering Technician at TOBCO, you will play a key role in supporting the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems. Working closely with Electrical Engineers, you will contribute to a range of technical tasks from drafting electrical diagrams to hands-on equipment installation and testing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams for electrical systems and components.
  • Support engineers in the design and layout of electrical systems, including switchboards, cabling, substations, and motor controls.
  • Assemble, install, calibrate, test, and maintain electrical systems, control panels, and related devices.
  • Undertake electrical work under the supervision of a licensed Electrician across a variety of areas including private lighting networks, street-light maintenance, MSB installation. This should include testing and commissioning.
  • Conduct inspections of completed installations to ensure compliance with design specifications, standards, and safety regulations. This should specifically include AS3000.
  • Collect and analyse technical data, perform calculations and measurements, and compile findings into detailed reports.
  • Estimate quantities and costs of materials required for electrical installations and provide procurement support.
  • Perform diagnostic testing and assist in fault-finding and repair of malfunctioning electrical systems.
  • Carry out workshop-based tasks, including the installation and testing of protection relays, metering systems, and automation devices.
  • Assist in research, development, and testing of new electrical technologies and solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, technical documentation, and equipment configurations.
