Description

On behalf of our client, MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an Electrical Estimator. This position is ideal for someone with a blend of “on the tools” electrical experience, as well as an estimation background on multi-residential, commercial, and mixed-use construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing drawings and specifications, preparing competitive bids, and supporting project teams throughout the tendering and pre-construction phases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyman Electrician certification (required)
  • 2+ years of experience estimating electrical work in residential high-rise, commercial, or mixed-use developments
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code, construction drawings, and local building requirements
  • Proficient in estimating software such as Accubid, LiveCount, or equivalent
  • Strong skills in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple bids with tight timelines
Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and project documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and develop pricing for labour, materials, and equipment
  • Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare and submit competitive bids and tender proposals within required deadlines
  • Maintain and update cost databases, estimating tools, and historical pricing information
  • Attend site meetings and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed
  • Provide value-engineering suggestions and identify cost-saving opportunities during pre-construction
  • Assist in handoff meetings and project budgeting upon award of contracts
