Responsibilities

As an Electrical Estimator you will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy mechanical and electrical construction projects. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • The accurate and timely preparation of full-cost electrical estimates for projects including materials, equipment, labour and subcontracts;
  • Generating project budgets, managing change orders & closing out projects once completed;
  • Reviewing specifications and design drawings to determine the total scope of work to be performed, material requirements and associated costs to be included in the final estimate price;
  • Carry out site visits as required;
  • Scrutinize tender documents, drawings and specifications and identify key points;
  • Liaise with the customer in a professional manner regarding queries and tender documentation;
  • Produce detailed quantity take offs and material costing sheets in estimating software;
  • Negotiate with multiple suppliers & specialist subcontractors;
  • Working under pressure to meet tender submission deadlines and reacting to changes;
  • Produce clear and accurate costings for final review before final submission;
  • Produce systems for similar re-occurring tenders
  • Risk impacts when bidding and estimating on scopes of work
