Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Electrical Estimator will analyze costs and prepare work take-offs and estimate on construction projects. The successful candidate will provide technical and administrative support to project operations with an emphasis on electrical estimating, reporting and monitoring progress, planning, scheduling, and handling project change.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Commercial electrical estimating & project management experience.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code. (Ticket Preferred)
- Accubid software experience is an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and paper flow management.
- Friendly attitude and good communication skills.
- Local industry knowledge and relationships are assets.
- High School degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college.
- Post-Secondary education a definite asset. Life-long learner attitude a must.
- Electrical Trade Qualification an asset.
- 8-10 years of relevant electrical experience preferably in a commercial setting.
- Minimum 5 years of successful electrical PM experience.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience.
- PMP certification is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand project specifications, drawings & details.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and provide leadership for safety, environment, and quality programs and policies.
- Ensure monthly cost forecasting is completed accurately for all their projects, complete with the PM checklist.
- Accurate and on time billings to ensure positive cash flow.
- Price and negotiate all changes in scope on projects underway.
- Monitor and manage the construction schedule to ensure that manpower requirements are known in advance of work activity.
- Ensure that the correct material and equipment is available to the tradesmen to avoid on-site inefficiencies.
- Assume responsibility for work outcomes and results of other workers.
- Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships.
- Represent company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings.
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Evaluate potential projects to bid and new areas of opportunity.
- Estimates for tenders, change orders, and miscellaneous projects.
- Complete take-offs from electrical drawings.
- Project management.
- Purchase materials.
- Ensure foremen are clear on scope of contract.
- Communicate well with foremen to ensure labour, equipment, and material needs are being met and schedule is on track.
- Be present at project sites and meetings as needed.
- Maintain good relationships with employees, clients, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and the public.
- Manage workload and be proactive to avoid “last minute” stress.
