Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is looking for Electrical Fitters to join our Auckland‑based operation. This role supports the Auckland Vector electricity distribution network through high‑quality installation, maintenance and fault repair of critical electrical assets. If you’re a hands‑on fitter who takes pride in workmanship, safety and doing the job right the first time, this is a solid opportunity to build a long‑term career with a trusted infrastructure provider. Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity Based in Auckland and reporting to a Supervisor, this role delivers installation and technical maintenance across substations, transformers, switchgear, regulators and associated network equipment. You’ll work as part of a field‑based team responding to planned works and network faults, supporting the reliable operation of the distribution network.  This is a practical, site‑based role where no two days are the same. You’ll be responsible for delivering safe and reliable outcomes across the network, working alongside experienced teammates and supervisors. Key activities include: * Installing, maintaining and repairing distribution network electrical assets * Responding to and repairing network faults, including fault analysis and rectification * Working with internal teams to understand job requirements, materials and resourcing * Keeping up to date with current projects, workloads and operating procedures * Completing accurate job records, documentation and reports * Undertaking training and competency development to support your ongoing growth This is a full‑time, permanent position offering consistent work, strong systems and opportunities to grow your technical capability. You’re reliable, methodical and comfortable working as part of a team in a fast‑moving operational environment. You’ll also bring: * A relevant electrical trade qualification * Current NZ electrical registration and practising licence (where required) * Experience working on electricity distribution networks or similar electrical plant * A strong commitment to Health & Safety and Zero Harm * The ability to deliver accurate, high‑quality work with minimal rework * A full, clean NZ Driver Licence Experience in transmission, distribution, or other large‑scale electrical infrastructure is an advantage, but not essential if you bring the right capability and attitude.
