CLX Engineering is seeking a highly detail-oriented Electrical CAD Drafter with strong experience in industrial automation (not MEP). Our CAD Drafters read, edit, and correct electrical schematics for automated machinery, conveyors, control panels, and PLC systems. This position involves translating redlined drawings and engineering markups into accurate, build-ready CAD documentation. Candidates must be confident in their ability to spot and correct errors, work from existing designs, and follow established standards. This is a drafting role only — you will not be designing systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working experience creating CAD models in AutoCAD 2013 or higher, AutoCAD Electrical, formal education in CAD drafting/design is a plus.
  • Proficient with basic commands of at least one type of CAD system (ability to occasionally use higher-level commands, timesaving programs and routines)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and/or Office 365 proficiency
  • Use of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for electrical drawings
  • A basic knowledge of standard electrical panel construction materials and methods.
  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
  • Ability to pass background check initial and random drug screenings
  • Present a professional demeanor with very good verbal phone skills and clear writing and email skills
  • Tenacity to get work completed and on time
  • Attention to detail and ability to consistently turn in accurate, quality work
  • All candidates must be able to pass a TSA level background check and a drug screen
  • Candidates should be comfortable navigating the airport, capable of working at a workstation for extended periods, and have dependable transportation to and from the airport.

  • A strong willingness to excel in current position for at least a year and then demonstrate the ability to grow technical skills
  • Understanding of UL508A control panel standards are a plus
Responsibilities
  • Interpret and revise electrical drawings based on redlines and engineer-provided markups
  • Draft power distribution, emergency stop, and logic control schematics
  • Create panel layout drawings and motor control station diagrams
  • Develop network wiring diagrams per engineering guidance
  • Generate accurate bills of materials based on completed drawings
  • Maintain CAD standards, drawing templates, and libraries
  • Track and organize drawing sets through project phases to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to meet project drafting requirements
