Description

Astute’s Power Team are currently recruiting an Electrical Inspector to inspect all of the electrical scope of works for the BOP Cabling scope of works and sign off on all packages on a new build waste to energy plant in Irvine, Scotland.
The Electrical Inspector position comes with an hourly rate from £42.00 to £46.00 per hour.

Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:

  • Perform inspections and verifications on electrical cabling installations associated with the Balance of Plant (BOP), including:
  • LV and control cabling
  • Instrumentation and signal wiring
  • Earthing and bonding systems
  • Containment systems (tray, trunking, conduit)
  • Ensure all electrical work meets project technical specifications, IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671), and relevant quality standards.
  • Review and verify installation against approved drawings, cable schedules, and method statements.
  • Witness testing and commissioning of installed systems, including insulation resistance, continuity, and loop impedance tests.
  • Identify and document non-conformances, raise NCRs, and track closeout actions.
  • Support the QA/QC process by compiling inspection and test records (ITRs), checklists, and red-line markups.
  • Liaise with the site team, supervisors, and client representatives to address quality or technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, including review of RAMS and safe systems of work.
  • Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2365/2391 or equivalent).
  • Inspection & Testing certification (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent) is essential.
  • Valid ECS/JIB Gold Card.
  • Previous experience working as an Electrical Inspector or QA/QC Inspector on major industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of BOP systems in a power generation or process plant environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of QA procedures and site documentation.
