Job Description SGS is currently looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Inspector / Expeditor (Contract). The length of the contract will be 12 to 18 months. The inspector will be required to sign an independent contractor agreement/sub-contractor agreement (1099) with SGS North America Inc. Job duties: Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for project equipment, ensuring tests are executed according to project requirements and witnessed by relevant stakeholders. This individual (s) should have an Electrical Engineering background and vast experience in not only coordinating, but witnessing and assessing the FAT, taking the necessary mitigation or corrective actions and deliver as per the expectations set for the role. Details of the work assignment are below the table. Schedule and coordinate FATs with suppliers, project team, and customer representatives. Inspection of MV/HV Breakers, Voltage Transformers, Surge Arrestors, etc. Ensure that all test procedures, documentation, and acceptance criteria are in place prior to FAT. Facilitate communication between suppliers, engineering, quality, and customers during FAT activities. Track and document FAT results, ensuring that all punch-list items are recorded and closed. Distribute certified FAT reports and test certificates to the project team for turnover documentation. Ensure adherence to project specs, engineering drawings, and standards like National Electrical Code (NEC) & International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Monitor and report on testing progress, quality metrics, and potential risks to project timelines Witness & oversee the execution of tests, ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional & non-functional requirements Ensure results and defects are formally documented, NCRs raised and facilitate resolution with functional team Evaluate testing methodologies, tools, and processes to improve efficiency & effectiveness Verify final doc has been completed and approved by the customer and responsible ENG/PM. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of electrical inspection experience Minimum** 2-3 years supplier Expediting experience Minimum of 3-4 years Shop / vendor surveillance experience Electrical Engineering background would be an asset Required to have FAT experience (Electrical, Type and any other tests) Project Planning, Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience is mandatory Must have Inspection experience of MV/HV Breakers, Voltage Transformers, Surge Arrestors, etc.. Must have Understanding of E&I processes, codes and standards Ensures electrical/instrumentation installations meet codes (NEC/IEC), specs, and safety standards. Must have Industrial experience in Oil & gas / Power & Utlity / Construction / Manufacturing, etc.. Work Schedule: Up to 8 hrs per day/ 3 - 4 days per week Rate: $45-$49/hr + mileage as per IRS guidelines Expenses: Hotel, flight, meals, etc..will be reimbursed at cost. Applicable only if job location is outside city of residence and having client prior approval.
