POSITION OVERVIEW

Giffen Consulting Ltd. is looking to add an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to an already accomplished team. We are looking for an individual with a mining and heavy industrial background to join us on a full-time Hybrid basis (3 days in office per week) from our Toronto or Vancouver office.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited university
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada or eligible to register
  • 5-10 / years of progressive experience in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering, Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects
  • Familiar with greenfield and brownfield mining projects
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
  • Experience with equipment selection and sizing for switches, transformers, and power and load distributions

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site investigations
  • Develop single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, wiring drawings, and layout plans
  • Responsible for the design of MV & LV power distribution systems
  • Developing control strategies, providing input to P&IDs, control system specifications, termination diagrams, commissioning plans
  • Design, specification and integration of complete automation systems including PLC, HMI, DCS, and communication networks
  • Adhere to established guidelines and client specifications
  • Applying Engineering Stamp to design work (EGBC, APEGA, etc.), willing to include other jurisdictions
  • Provide oversight on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget to ensure projects are completed to specification
  • Provide cost estimating review and assistance
  • Write and review technical reports, specifications, and construction specifications
  • Provide coordination with various departments and disciplines as required for project implementation, mine design, and inspection
  • Ability and willingness to travel for site visits
  • Ability to present project designs and concepts to clients
  • Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other key stakeholders
