Description

Location: Atlanta, GA FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary ID3 is seeking a skilled Electrical Lab Technician (Low Voltage) to support the assembly, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of low-voltage electrical systems used in custom experiential exhibits, trade show displays, retail environments, and interactive installations. This role works closely with engineering, fabrication, and production teams to ensure electrical systems are built to specification, meet quality standards, and perform reliably in both the shop and the field. The ideal candidate has experience with 12VDC–48VDC systems, control panels, LED lighting, power supplies, sensors, and cable assembly, and enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Assemble, solder, and repair electronic components and wiring harnesses * Build and test LED lighting systems, including addressable LEDs, DC power distribution, and controllers * Wire motors, drivers, sensors, switches, relays, and control components * Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings. * Understand verbal wiring instructions and be proactive with follow up questions to ensure proper one-off wiring for unique systems lacking full electrical schematics * Utilize Ohms law to always ensure correct wattage power supplies and wire gauges are being used. * Test electrical systems for continuity, voltage, functionality, and safety. * Troubleshoot low-voltage DC systems, shorts, bad connections, voltage drops, and control issues * Install and configure: * LED lighting systems * Power supplies * Relays * Switches * Sensors * Motors * Controllers * Low-voltage distribution systems * Perform quality inspections to ensure assemblies meet engineering specifications. * Assist engineers during prototype development and product testing. * Maintain inventory of electrical components and laboratory supplies. * Support manufacturing during production builds and customer installations. * Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and electrical best practices. * Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or GED required. * 2–5 years of experience assembling and/or troubleshooting low-voltage electrical systems. * Experience working with: * 12VDC–48VDC electrical systems * 120VAC to DC Power supplies * LED lighting * Low-voltage controls * Electrical wiring and cable fabrication * Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. * Experience using electrical test equipment including: * Digital multimeters * Continuity testers * Power supplies * Clamp meters * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in manufacturing, exhibit fabrication, themed entertainment, or custom production environments. * Technical degree or certification in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field. * Familiarity with: * DMX and/or Addressable lighting systems * Ethernet/IP communications * Arduino and/or Embedded C Programming * Raspberry Pi and/or Linux Programming Experience * CAT5e/CAT6a wiring * DMX Console programming * Knowledge of NEC standards and electrical safety practices. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. * Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems. * Excellent wiring and cable management skills. * Ability to diagnose electrical failures quickly and accurately. * Strong mechanical aptitude. * Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. Work Environment * Manufacturing and electrical laboratory environment. * Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment. * Exposure to soldering equipment, wiring, and fabrication processes. * Occasional travel may be required to support installations or field service.
