Description Key Duties/Responsibilities This position will assist the Maintenance Manager in the daily operations of the maintenance, repair, and programming of production equipment and all upkeep within the SSI Foods plant. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: · Conduct testing and validation for PLC’s throughout the plant as required or recommended · Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, refrigeration systems, hydraulic systems, and forklifts/prime movers etc. · Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts · Order and install replacement parts for machines · Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines · Prepare reports documenting work performed · Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines · Collaborate with management regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required · Make necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required · Perform other related duties as assigned Requirements Required Skills/Abilities · Ability to follow directions, work independently and work well in a team · Ability to verbally communicate with other departments · Ability to organize self and others to complete tasks and responsibilities · Ability to read and comprehend specifications and use them to accomplish tasks · Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment · Interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation · Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills · Ability to operate and/or test specified equipment · Ability to diagnose PLC problems, program and repair the PLC · Ability to design and build using fabrication equipment and welding Education and Experience · High school diploma or equivalent preferred · BS/BA degree in computers or electronics preferred · Three years working in a food processing/manufacturing environment required · Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred · Three to five years experience working on PLC operated equipment required · Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements Physical Requirements · Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping. · Prolonged periods to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery. · Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds. · Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. · Ability to move in, around and under equipment. · Ability to work in a cold and hot wet environment. · Work in refrigerated environment.
