REQUIREMENTS

  • Electricians: Level 3 Electrical Qualification (NVQ or equivalent) + minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Mechanical Engineers/Fitters: Recognised Mechanical Qualification / Apprenticeship + minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • Flexibility to cover both day and night shifts

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for skilled Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to provide shift cover at a busy food processing plant in Peterborough. This role is open to both trades — whether you are an experienced Electrician or Mechanical Fitter/Engineer, we want to hear from you.
This is a flexible contractor / sub-contractor opportunity, with consistent shift cover available. For those seeking stability, there is also an option to transition into a permanent role.
You’ll be covering 12-hour shifts (days and nights available), ensuring that plant machinery, systems, and electrical infrastructure run smoothly with minimal downtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Electrical Engineers:
  • Perform electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repair across plant systems
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns and ensure safe electrical operation
  • Mechanical Engineers/Fitters:
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and repair on machinery
  • Undertake preventative maintenance and support production reliability
  • Work safely within a food production environment, following health & safety and compliance standards
  • Complete shift handovers and reporting
