Job Title: Electrical or Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Location: Gowanda, NY or Arcade NY (if willing to travel and train in Gowanda, NY)
Job Type: Full-time, Salaried Professional Position
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
Electrical and magnetic experience in aerospace and defense industry is a plus!!!
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply advanced problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions that meet customer requirements and resolve technical challenges
- Quote new products, defining materials and processes for costing and ensuring accuracy and completeness of all quotes
- Design new products from concept to production, using Inventor CAD software and validate design performance
- Interact with other departments and customers on a technical basis to gather information, provide technical support, and solve complex technical problems
- Build prototypes and perform testing to validate design performance and resolve technical issues
- Analyze data, proposals, and customer specifications to identify design requirements and constraints, and develop creative solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
- Perform mechanical and electrical measurements, using a variety of test equipment and techniques, to validate design performance and resolve technical problems
- Stay up to date with relevant industry practices, trends, materials, and processes to ensure that designs are current and optimized
- Stay informed of military specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including Mil-Prf-27, Mil-Std-981 and J-Std, and ensure that designs comply with these requirements
- Continuously improve existing designs and processes, using a structured approach that emphasizes quality and efficiency and that leverages best practices and new technologies
- Interact with the company’s Family of Brands to share information, ideas, and best practices and to contribute to cross-functional projects
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design drawings, manufacturing instructions, test plans, and reports, to support the design and development process
- Plan and develop experimental test plans to validate design performance, identify design weaknesses, and demonstrate design effectiveness
- Continuously strive to improve the design process, incorporating best practices and new technologies to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in a related role, or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and identify creative solutions to complex technical challenges
- Proficiency in Inventor CAD software or similar modeling software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate technical reports
- Familiarity with military specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, such as Mil-Prf-27, Mil-Std-981, and J-Std
- Background in continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to cross-functional projects
