Overview Shimmick's Electrical Division, Axia Electric, is seeking a highly talented Electrical Project Executive / Area Manager to be based in the Orange County / LA County, CA region. Axia Electric, LLC Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing electrical scopes for infrastructure projects. In 2025 the Electrical Division re-branded to Axia Electric, a subsidiary to Shimmick Construction. Axia offers electrical, instrumentation, and process controls expertise for water and wastewater treatment; dams and locks; mass transit and rail; alternative energy; power generation and transmission; and commercial building projects. Our ability to self-perform this specialty offers additional value and enables us to better control cost and schedule for projects with major electrical and process mechanical scopes. Our clients include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE. Axia Electric, headquartered in Riverside, California, focuses on large public owners in several states, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego and the $235 million EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project in Lake Elsinore, CA. Responsibilities Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Operational management of large scale projects, multiple small scope projects, Strategic Capture and Win Planning for future work in the area Support strategic planning for key pursuits in target sectors, including client analysis, competitive positioning, and teaming recommendations. Support capture plan development, pursuit calendars, and SWOT analyses. Facilitate go/no-go discussions and strategy sessions with executive sponsors and BD teams. Ensure all messaging reflects the client's values, pain points, and success criteria. Help grow the San Diego Electrical market. Client and Internal Facilitation Coordinate input and feedback from subject matter experts, joint venture partners, estimators, and executives. Foster strong relationships with clients during prepositioning, procurement, and debrief stages. Contract and Procurement Intelligence Analyze RFQs, RFPs, and contract documents to identify key risks, requirements, and opportunities. Coordinate with legal, estimating, and risk management teams to ensure proposal responses reflect contract compliance and risk mitigation strategy. Track industry trends in progressive contracting (e.g., CMGC, P3, DBFOM) and communicate implications to the team. Operational Leadership Sponsor Project PMs to ensure profitable work. Develop and mentor project staff on contract administration, cost controls, scheduling basics, contract negotiations, field management. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering (BS in Electrical Engineering preferred), or related field + 15 years of relevant experience in industrial electrical work: Power distribution and transmission, instrumentation & controls, transit & rail, and alternative energy. Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 3 years of leadership. Preferred Qualifications: Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills, with experience tailoring technical content for client needs. Experience facilitating meetings and working groups with diverse stakeholders, including engineers, executives, and JV partners. Familiarity with CMAR/CMGC, Design-Build, and alternative delivery contracting models. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, SharePoint, CMiC (Cost Management). This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. The salary range for this position is between $225,000 - $275,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
