Description Job Description – Project Manager Job Title: Project Manager Department/Business Unit: Operations Reports To: Operations Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Salary: Based on Merit Purpose of Job Provide overall management direction for one or more electrical construction projects (up to $10 million) and develop new business opportunities related to specific clients, client groups, industries, or geographic areas. Primary Responsibilities Provide primary project leadership for assigned projects in partnership with the designated project superintendent. Evaluate contractual scope of work and organize staffing for key project positions through regional department heads, subordinate project managers, general superintendents, and related personnel. Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within GNS corporate policy. Initiate and maintain relationships with prime clients and A/E contacts to coordinate scheduling activities and facilitate successful construction operations. Negotiate, prepare, and issue work orders to subcontractors on assigned projects. Monitor and control project development through administrative oversight of the on-site project superintendent. Prepare, issue, and update master project schedules and variance reports to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget. Manage financial aspects of contracts, including costs, billings, and collections, to maintain profitability goals, positive cash flow, and strong client relationships. Create measurable project budgets and track costs throughout the life of the project in coordination with the superintendent. Control material purchases and rentals within budget through effective buyout processes. Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements and GNS standards using GNS workbooks and document control procedures. Maintain project schedules and document delays according to contractual requirements. Manage project risks, investigate potentially serious situations, and implement corrective actions as needed. Prepare RFIs for clarification and actively pursue additional work through change orders. Attend job progress meetings as required. Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers, consultants, general contractors, and subcontractors. Supervise and mentor project managers and assistant project managers when assigned. Perform additional assignments as requested or required. Procure, transfer, and log all tools necessary for assigned projects. Ensure adherence to project specifications during procurement and installation of materials. Coordinate project layouts and BIM coordination in conjunction with the superintendent and BIM coordinator. Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience 5–10 years of experience in construction design, finance, and management. Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities. Strong project management skills, including: Documentation Cost control Procurement Scheduling Change order pricing Negotiation Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and influence. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems. Advanced Excel skills. Bluebeam proficiency. Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance. Physical & Other Demands Employees must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, walking, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and visual acuity required for construction site operations. Work Environment Work in varying weather conditions depending on location, season, and temperature. Willingness to use construction-site sanitary facilities. Ability to work in restricted areas such as switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics. Required use of personal protective equipment including hard hats, safety glasses, and respirators when necessary. Ability to work 50+ hours per week, including weekends, with workdays beginning at 6:30 a.m. Ability to work in noisy environments.
