JOB SUMMARY

As an Electrical Supervisor, you will assume responsibility for overseeing activities and resources to ensure site safety and compliance, all while upholding the highest standards of excellence, productivity, and performance.
Your pivotal role contributes significantly to upholding high-quality street lighting services in Suffolk, prioritising client and customer satisfaction, adherence to quality and safety standards, and profitability. Planning, programming, and leading a team of operatives, you will cultivate a positive work environment, fostering outstanding performance. You will have the ability and experience to put operatives to work complying with all supervisors’ duties under CDM 2015.

REQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

  • Previous experience in Street Lighting projects
  • Results-oriented with a commitment to on-time, on-budget project delivery.
  • Input into programming and scheduling skills, including annual programme development and associated budgeting.
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of Profit and Loss (P&L).
  • Adaptability to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of team supervision and high performance, capable of instructing and motivating teams.
  • Experience working under NEC Contracts.
  • Proficiency in supervision principles, including budgeting, cost control, and safety.

Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.

  • In-depth understanding of health and safety regulations, especially responsibilities under Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Self-motivated with effective motivational skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Hold a SSSTS Card
  • CSCS card & CITB SMSTS.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Prioritise Safety, Delivery, commercial aspects, and Client and customer excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Assist in managing physical construction activities as directed by the contract Manager. Coordinate and supervise the execution of capital projects and maintenance schemes, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Input / Programme works on a weekly basis, including the management and allocation of plant, labour, and materials in line with McCann expectations.
  • Supervise on-site teams, completing daily and weekly reports and documentation.
  • Contribute to design buildability.
  • Programme resources and plant.
  • Ensure timely and budgeted completion of works.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, implement safety practices, and manage risks. Conduct audit reports, providing feedback on Health and Safety issues to the SHEQ Advisor/HSEQ Manager.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and motivate your team, delegate tasks effectively, and support their development. Produce Work Package Plans and Task Briefing sheets.
  • Ability to organise work gangs effectively. Ensure recruited staff/operatives/subcontractors are competent for their assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Monitor work quality to prevent significant quality defects.
  • Embrace and contribute to new initiatives.
  • Promote the reporting of accidents, incidents, or near misses among fellow employees.
  • Attend internal/external planning meetings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure project success. Liaise with wider site teams and collaborate with Councils and third parties.
  • Performance Management: review team progress, and provide feedback to improve performance, rewarding excellence and addressing issues.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including reports, risk assessments, and financial records.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities for process enhancement and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Training and compliance – Ensuring that all current training competencies are in date and arrange refresher training as and when required.
  • Any other duties required by the business for successful delivery.
