Description
The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for supervising and controlling daily electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role coordinates technicians, contractors, materials, and maintenance execution while ensuring full compliance with safety regulations, electrical standards, and company procedures. The position serves as the operational bridge between the Electrical Engineer (analysis and strategy) and the Technicians (execution), ensuring that maintenance plans are effectively translated into safe and high-quality field implementation. Responsibilities: Mandatory objectives (Applied for all employees): Implement and comply with Occupational Health Safety & Environment (OHSE) Policy, Quality & Environmental Management System, BSL Policy, Code of Conduct (How We Work), Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) and Government Regulations. Identify electrical hazards and implement preventive actions Stop unsafe work practices and enforce safe behaviours Maintain safe working area and 5S discipline Ensure compliance with statutory and electrical regulatory requirements Maintenance Execution Supervise preventive, corrective, and breakdown electrical maintenance Coordinate manpower, tools, and spare parts readiness Monitor daily work orders and backlog completion Verify quality of electrical installation and repair works Support troubleshooting of electrical failures and system trips Participate in shutdown planning and execution Equipment Reliability Support Identify abnormal electrical equipment conditions Provide maintenance feedback in CMMS Support failure investigation and corrective actions Assist implementation of PM and predictive maintenance activities Resource & Contractor Management Direct and supervise electrical technicians and contractors Evaluate contractor work quality and safety compliance Control maintenance manhours and resource utilization Monitor usage of electrical tools, instruments, and consumables Coordination & Communication Coordinate maintenance activities with Production Communicate priorities and operational constraints Provide technical guidance to technicians Support spare part readiness with Planner & Store Qualification and/or experience required: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent Familiarity with standard electrical and safety codes Advanced troubleshooting skills Basic knowledge of equipment cost accounting methods Basic computer skills In-depth knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems. Ability to plan and direct the work of a large staff of subordinates Working knowledge of EAM or CMMS Preferred Qualification and/or experience required: Minimum two (2) years of experience as an Electrical Supervisor. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards is an advantage. Understanding of Six Sigma and QC 7 Tools is preferred. At NS BlueScope our success comes from our people.
