THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Technician in our Energy Services Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Energy Services department is essential to the steel production process, serving as the centralized hub for power generation from our boiler and turbine plant. Energy Services also provide the distribution of power and services across our Port Kembla manufacturing facilities.
In this critical role, you will use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes in maintaining and developing the Energy Services equipment. You’ll implement and improve our maintenance strategies to achieve optimum equipment performance and reduction in failures. Your contributions will ensure that this world-class asset delivers safe, efficient and reliable continuous operations.

Responsibilities

Working in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the safety of our people, the quality of our product and the reliability of our equipment. You will:

  • follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
  • provide assessment and follow up of equipment issues impacting plant performance
  • perform equipment inspections as well as detailed planning and condition monitoring of equipment
  • perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
  • fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s, drives and instrumentation systems
  • perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings
  • contribute to site management of contractors and maintenance service providers to ensure maintenance work is executed safely and to specification whilst continuing to improve tool time, lower costs and improve quality
