The Grid Department manages the Fluxys Belgium transmission grid. The department aims to ensure that natural gas is supplied to end users at all times and to guarantee the safety of facilities and the environment as well as that of the staff involved.

Cathodic protection is a technique for protecting underground steel pipe structures from external corrosion and plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our pipeline network. Use of cathodic protection is constantly evolving, so technologies and methods are always being aligned with the latest developments.
Our Cathodic Protection Operations Department in the South-East Zone is looking for an Electrical Technician – Cathodic Protection (m/f/x).
Ensuring the high-quality, safe and efficient operation of the cathodic protection system to keep the underground infrastructure of the Belgian natural gas transmission grid in good condition.
- After a training period, you will be jointly responsible for operational cathodic protection activities in Wallonia (mainly the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg)
- You will be responsible for evaluating the cathodic protection system in pipes and stations. You will carry out on-site measurements on the basis of thorough preparation
- You will inspect and perform maintenance work on cathodic protection equipment
- You will organise cathodic protection work, from preparation to commissioning, and ensure safe and efficient execution
- You will help to monitor internal and external projects that could affect the cathodic protection system, and take part in specific research linked to particular findings
- You will spend a large part of your time on site. In addition, you will take care of the administrative follow-up on your actions, prepare final reports and adjust the relevant information where necessary. This will mainly be done in one of our local offices
- You will perform your tasks in collaboration with your close colleagues in the zone and be in contact with other departments as well as with external parties (end consumers, other pipeline operators, etc.). You will be involved in technical developments in the field, allowing you to contribute to the development of your own role
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in electromechanics, electricity or electronics
- Relevant experience in an electrical engineering position would be an asset
- You have an affinity for ICT applications and a firm grasp of MS Office in particular
- You are able to work independently but also operate well in a team
- You are open to new developments in your job and are willing to take the initiative
- You are accurate, efficient and solution-oriented in your work, paying due attention to safety
- You have good communication skills (both oral and written)
- You are able to quickly absorb new technical knowledge, can spot potential connections, and have strong analytical skills
- You are fluent in French; a basic knowledge of Dutch and/or English would be an advantage
- You are prepared to travel within Belgium using a company vehicle
- You have the option to work from home one day a week when doing administrative work, but this must always be done in consultation with the team and depending on their needs
