ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Based at The Irish Times Print Facility, Citywest
Contract: 3-Year Fixed Term
Report to: Engineering Manager
The Irish Times, Ireland’s leading quality newspaper and digital media platform, is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our dynamic Engineering Team at our state-of-the-art Print Facility in Citywest.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-performance, fast-paced production environment where The Irish Times and other major publications are printed.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma or degree in Electronics, or
• Fully qualified Electrician with experience in electronics and IT
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong initiative and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to work variable shifts, with a focus on evening and night shifts

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• We are looking for a motivated and experienced technician with a strong track record in:
• Electrical maintenance
• Electronic engineering
• Control systems and network technology
• Supporting high-volume production operations

YOU WILL BE PART OF A SKILLED AND COLLABORATIVE TEAM, RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAY-TO-DAY TECHNICAL SUPPORT OF CRITICAL PRODUCTION SYSTEMS, INCLUDING:

• Printing press and mailroom dispatch systems
• Laser imaging and vision systems
• Siemens S5 & S7 PLC control systems
• InterBus / ProfiBus control systems
• PC support and networking
• Closed-loop speed control systems
