Description Job Description The Electrical Technician is a hands-on technical role responsible for the electrical and controls assembly, wiring, and testing of automation products and equipment. Reporting directly to the Business Unit Manager – Automation, this position plays a critical role in building, integrating, and validating control and motion systems for conveyor and safety projects for mk North America’s growing Automation Business Unit. This role focuses on interpreting electrical schematics and CAD drawings to assemble, wire, troubleshoot, and test electrical, controls, safety, and pneumatic systems. The Automation / Electrical Technician will work closely with Engineering & Production to deliver high-quality automation solutions that meet customer requirements for performance, safety, and reliability. Essential Functions Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and mechanical CAD drawings. Assemble and wire electrical control panels, machine wiring, and field devices in accordance with drawings and standards. Install, wire, and terminate PLCs, I/O modules, HMIs, VFDs, servos, motors, sensors, actuators, and safety devices. Install and connect pneumatic components including valves, regulators, air prep units, and actuators. Perform point-to-point wiring checks and verify I/O functionality. Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and pneumatic issues during build and test phases. Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and assist with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as required. Work closely with Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to resolve issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Provide feedback to Engineering on drawing accuracy, build improvements, and standardization opportunities. Assist with documentation updates such as redlines, as-built drawings, and test checklists. Perform other duties as assigned in support of automation projects. Participate in service and support Requirements Required Education and Experience Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, controls, or electrical machine building, or applicable education. 5–15 years of total relevant experience preferred. Technical training or direct experience in electrical, controls, or automation disciplines required. Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Automation, or a related field is a plus. Travel Some limited travel may be required to support servicing of equipment Compensation Salary range: $30–35 per hour, commensurate with experience.
