Description
SAIC is currently seeking a mid-level Electrical Technician in Newport, RI Job Duties: Responsible for the checkout and visual inspection of pumps, valves, eyewash stations, and lockout/tagout. Usage of facility cranes. Fabrication of test fixtures through the use of light metalworking. Performing maintenance tasks and helping to develop maintenance procedures. Assembling and installing equipment. Creating, building, modifying and repairing prototype test systems and fixtures. Facility and system upkeep and organization. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 3 years of experience with panel building, cable harness fabrication, soldering, and wiring Must have ability to obtain SECRET clearance. Experience with QA testing to assure adherence to manufacturing standards. Experience with layout, assembly, and wiring of control panels, wiring harnesses, and electronics chassis. Ability to create, build, assemble, modify and/or repair prototypes with minimal direction or intervention. Ability to route, terminate and dress wire harness neatly. Proficient soldering skills (through-hole, and solder-cup connectors). Must be able to work in a team environment while completing tasks in an unsupervised and self-directed fashion. Must effectively communicate with team and customers, both verbally and through E-Mail. Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as digital multi-meters (DMMs) to measure voltage, impedance, and verify continuity. Desired Qualifications: Knowledge in reading electrical schematics and assembly drawings Assist in updating electrical schematics and assembly drawings when required to document as-built configurations or propose changes. Some computer skills including basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word in order to document work and read wire lists.
