Description

Description:
Spirit Electronics is a veteran-owned, woman-owned value-added supplier of high reliability components, engineering services and superior supply chain solutions. With a history rooted in serving the military and space industries, Spirit strives to be a valued partner to key technology sectors. As an award-winning distributor, Spirit delivers authorized products and a range of value-added services, including SMI/VMI, foundry access, electrical and environmental testing, design, assembly, and end-of-life management.
Position Overview
The Test Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and execution of test solutions for high-reliability electronic components, semiconductors, and circuit card assemblies. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical expertise in both automated and bench-level test systems to support product validation for aerospace, military, and space applications. The ideal candidate is experienced in MIL-STD test protocols, test hardware development, and PCB design.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced degree or technical certifications in electronics, systems testing, or a related field.
  • Experience with foundry-level test environments or secure, defense-related testing.
  • Programming or scripting experience for test automation (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, C/C++).
  • Familiarity with environmental testing standards such as thermal cycling and vibration.
Export Control: This job position may include access to controlled information or technology covered under applicable U.S. export control laws. As such, employment for this job position may be contingent on either verification that an applicant falls under the definition of a “U.S. Person” (which includes U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and those granted U.S. asylum or refugee status) or on the Company timely obtaining any necessary export license required under federal laws. The Company evaluates such export license situations on a case-by-case basis and may decline to proceed with a job applicant in its sole discretion since export license applications can take many weeks to be processed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in electronics or semiconductor component testing.
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuit analysis and industry-standard test methodologies.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD test procedures and aerospace/defense testing standards.
  • Experience working with semiconductors including memory, Flash, ADC/DACs, RF components, and ASICs.
  • Proficient with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, and environmental chambers.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for technical reporting and team collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented with a disciplined approach to documentation and quality control.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP systems for test documentation and data analysis
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement comprehensive test solutions, including fixtures, test boards, and hardware integration.
  • Develop schematics for PCB layouts, load boards, and probe cards, including simulation, layout, and debugging.
  • Create and execute test plans for functional, environmental, and accelerated stress testing (e.g., Burn-in, HAST).
  • Develop and debug test programs using Automated Test Equipment (ATE) such as Advantest Verigy, and bench-level instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies).
  • Design voltage biasing and current monitoring circuits for use in burn-in and environmental test hardware.
  • Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to define test requirements and deliver technical reports.
  • Lead day-to-day test lab operations, including workflow ownership, process improvement, and resource planning.
  • Ensure strict compliance with ESD controls, traveler documentation, and applicable quality standards (AS9100, ISO9001).
  • Analyze test data and prepare detailed technical reports with results, root cause analysis, and recommendations.
  • Support calibration efforts, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives in the lab.
