QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Electrician journeyman card or minimum of eight (8) years electrician experience
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
  • Able to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Collins Aerospace in Rockford, IL site aids in assembling the Ram Air Turbines (RAT) used for aircraft emergency power generation. Our Ram Air Turbines have been used to save aircrafts and over 2,600 lives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Installs, constructs, maintains and troubleshoots, fabricates and repairs all electrical power, test equipment, machine tools and electrical systems including building, heating, cooling and lightening equipment and data and telephone lines. Performs preventative maintenance on same.
  • Develops electrical systems from incomplete information and cooperation with engineers and testers. Performs electrical construction and maintenance projects according to applicable codes and safety regulations.
  • Operates the following equipment: Volt – ohm meter, oscilloscopes, amp meters, digital meters, signal trackers, resistance checkers, capacitor checkers, aerial equipment, construction equipment programmable and numerical controls and other equipment as required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Locates and determines electrical malfunctions and repairs as needed.
  • Performs diagnosis and inspection of circuits and wiring to ensure proper shielding, grounding, safety and efficiency.
  • Work with minimal resource information to organize work and gather materials and if necessary fabricate or modify electrical jigs, fixtures, etc.
  • Understands the logic of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, for test or maintenance of parts or systems.
  • Works with basic hand and power tools on a variety of materials (e.g. wood plastic, metal, etc.). Operates power vehicles as necessary to complete assigned tasks in a safe and workmanlike manner.
  • Logs on and performs informational inputs on computers. Solves problems encountered with routine computer usage and computerized machine controls with minimum technical assistance.
  • Uses skilled knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes including analog and digital circuitry and is capable of troubleshooting problems. Builds electrical systems and/or circuitry from schematics or work plans.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.
