Your Opportunity:
This position reports to the Facility Manager at the Royal Alexandra Hospital working in the Facilities Maintenance & Engineering Department. The incumbent will perform a full range of journeyperson level duties associated with installing, maintaining, testing and repairing building electrical systems, control systems and equipment in accordance with blueprints, codes and established Alberta Health Services’ standards and practices. The incumbent must have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose electrical system problems that need immediate response and repair for the campus. Interpreting diagrams, drawings, code publications and standards are a necessary skill. Must be able to manage record keeping tasks and make appropriate recommendations for continual improvement of electrical infrastructure. Working knowledge and very thorough understanding of complex electrical distribution systems is mandatory. Understanding of heliport fire suppression systems and regulations is required. This Electrician position will also assist the Electrical Lead Hand to manage complex electrical infrastructure upgrades and repairs as required. The primary location will be at the Royal Alexandra Hospital but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Potential multi-site duties as directed by FM&E Director or Manager.
Description:

As an Electrician you will work in accordance with the accepted codes, standards, regulations and procedures. Under minimal supervision, the electrician performs a variety of highly skilled electrical maintenance and repairs of a complex nature requiring use of schematics, blue prints and specialized test equipment.
